Getting Started - Campaigns, Pt. 1: Creating a Campaign

Campaigns are where the categorization rules, inbound price, and general routing rules for your leads live. You can create as many Campaigns as needed to make your setup easy to manage and meet your buyers' needs.

Overview

As we saw in our previous article, every Lead Source you create needs an accompanying Campaign to manage how leads are processed and routed, but you may also create additional Campaigns as needed.

This guide will walk you through creating a Campaign; whether you're setting one up right after creating a new Lead Source or building one from scratch.

Method 1: Create a Campaign After Your Lead Source:

After saving your Lead Source details, you'll be prompted to set up your Campaign.

Step 1: Configure the Basic Settings

You’ll fill in the initial details for your Campaign:

  • Campaign Name: Choose a clear, descriptive name that reflects your strategy.
    Examples:

    • California Leads - for leads filtered by state.

    • Aged Leads - for a campaign receiving only aged leads.

  • Channel: Select how leads will arrive (e.g., Webhook, Ping/Post, Email).

  • Lead Type: Choose which Lead Type is associated with this Campaign.

  • Price: Enter your cost per lead (including marketing or platform costs).

    Price Per Lead
Set the default cost applied to each inbound lead received.

    Use case:
Used when purchasing leads from a lead vendor that charges a fixed price per lead (for example, $10–$20 per lead).

    Price Per Sale
Specify the fixed dollar amount applied when a lead converts into a sale.

    Use case:
Common when paying a partner or affiliate a flat commission for each successful sale.

    Revenue Share (%)
Specify the percentage of the sale amount applied as revenue share.

    Use case:
Used when a lead source receives a percentage of the final sale value instead of a fixed payment.

    Note:
These values represent the cost paid to your lead source. If you generate the leads yourself, we recommend setting these values to $0.

Step 2: Set Inbound Validation & Outbound Delivery
Configure how leads are qualified and routed:

A. Inbound Validation (Optional but recommended)
These rules help ensure lead quality. Except for the duplicate check, each validation incurs a small additional fee per lead.

  • Duplicate Day Setting: How far back (in days) LeadExec checks for duplicates. Default is 30 days.

  • Standardize Address: Formats the lead's address to USPS standards.

  • Append City and State: Automatically fills in city/state using postal code data.

  • Mobile Check: Validates if the primary phone number is mobile.

  • Geolocate IP Address: Checks for legitimate IP addresses (helps filter out VPNs).

B. Outbound Delivery
Set the high-level rules for sending leads to buyers:

  • Maximum Delivery Count: The number of times a single lead can be sent to different buyers (auto-rejects don't count toward this).

  • Delivers To: Choose whether leads go to Any Eligible Client or only to an Exclusive Group.

Click Create. Your Campaign is now active!

Method 2: Create a Campaign from the Campaign List

You can also create a Campaign independently, which gives you access to more granular settings upfront.

Step 1: Navigate and Initiate

  1. From the left-hand menu, go to Campaign List.

  2. Click the Create button.

Step 2: Configure Campaign Tabs

You’ll now see a detailed setup with several tabs:

General Information Tab

  • Lead Source: Select the associated source.

  • Campaign Name, Channel, Lead Type: Same as in Method 1.

  • Inbound Price: Your cost per lead.

  • Status: Set to Active or Paused.

  • Require Authentication: Enable for Web/Ping-Post channels for added security.

Quality Options Tab

  • Use Quality Control: Toggle this on to enable validation rules.

  • You will see the same Inbound Validation options (Duplicate Check, Standardize Address, etc.) as in Method 1.

Delivery Options Tab

  • Automation Method: Choose to use the system default or set custom routing logic for this Campaign.

  • Maximum Delivery Count & Delivers To: Same as in Method 1.

Quantity Limits Tab

  • Set reception caps to control volume:

    • Hour Limit

    • Day Limit

    • Monthly Limit

Step 3: Finalize

  1. Review all settings across the tabs.

  2. Go to the Next Steps tab.

  3. Click Create.
